Have You Crunched the Numbers Today?

Just suppose you found out you're 20 pounds over your optimum weight? What about discovering that your body fat content is a donut away from 25%? When it comes to your health, the numbers really do need to add up. Want to test your health knowledge and learn new ways to boost your well being and improve your health. Health calculators* (American Osteopathic Assoc) can help you learn about the cost of smoking, calculate your heart rate, predict your pregnancy due date and more. The USDA also offers a list of interactive tools & resources, as does Health-Calc.com across the pond in Denmark. The Mayo Clinics personal health Scorecard is a great tool too. Try a few of them out, the results may surprise you. Many calculators can be used in either U.S. based pounds and inches, or [metric] for the metric version. I've tried to site tools & resources with the least amount of adds and pop-ups. The standard list includes:
  • Blood Alcohol Estimator - DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! See how little alcohol is required to change the alcohol content of your blood stream.
  • Body Fat Estimator - How much fat are you carrying? Find out if you are in the healthy range.
  • Body Mass Index - Do you have more mass than your heart can handle?
  • Calories Burned - Find out how many calories you burn doing your favorite activities.
  • Daily Energy Expenditure - Calculate how many calories your body needs to burn to function properly.
  • Frame Size - This calculator uses standard tables to calculate your frame size
  • Ideal Weight - Use this tool to determine your healthiest weight.
  • Lean Body Mass - Increasing your lean mass while reducing your fats is key to looking great.
  • Lose One Pound - How long does it take to lose a pound doing your favorite activity?
  • Ovulation Estimator - Trying to get pregnant? Use this to help determine your most fertile times. DO NOT USE THIS AS A MEANS OF BIRTH CONTROL!
  • Pregnancy Due Date - Pregnant? Think you are? Find out when the baby is due and key dates for your pregnancy.
  • Smoking Costs - Just how much is this habit costing you in hard dollars?
  • Target Heart Rate - Achieving your target heart rate is key to maximizing the effectiveness of your aerobic work out.
  • Waist to Hip Ratio - Do you have a higher risk of heart disease because of your shape?
